staff with respect to curriculum mapping, improving school completion rates, PK-
12 literacy, behavior management, “Response to Intervention,” and using
differentiated instruction to improve achievement for every student.
Activity 1: The administration will provide the Board with information
for upcoming professional development activities and reports of results from
past activities.
Activity 2: The Board will welcome opportunities for
presentations about Professional Improvement Plans and Curriculum Mapping
projects, with special attention to the core content areas (social studies,
science, mathematics, and English).
Goal 2: The Board
will support programs and services for students that will enable them to reach
higher levels of academic and/or personal achievement.
Activity 1:
Administrators will report to the Board on South Seneca’s performance on the
School Report Card and on other assessments and make recommendations about
programs/services that are or should be offered, such as Academic Intervention
Services, course offerings, software packages, etc.
Activity 2: The Board
will encourage programs and services designed to educate students about
potential career profiles.
Activity 3: The
Administration will provide an annual report on the effectiveness of the Academic
Eligibility Policy Help Sessions and Academic Intervention Services at the High
School.
Activity 4: For the 2008-2009 school year, program reviews
will be presented to the Board in the areas of maintenance, business office,
and library services.
Goal 3: The Board
supports communication between the school district and all elements of the
South Seneca school community.
Activity 1: The District
will include members of the community in planning and decisions by inviting
participation on committees and providing input into decisions.
Activity 2: The Board will participate in training to
examine various governance structures that might lend themselves to increased
connection with all elements of the South Seneca school and the broader community.
Goal 4: The Board will monitor
progress in implementing the capital improvement project.
Activity
1: The Board will seek frequent and regular reports to ensure the
successful implementation of the project
and to ensure the quality of
work.
Goal 5: The Board
will encourage the use of environmentally sound practices.
Activity 1: The Buildings and Grounds Supervisor will
provide periodic reports to the Board on progress being made in using
environmentally sound practices.
Activity 2: The Board will encourage a district-wide awareness
of environmentally sound practices through such means as contests, incentives,
etc.
Activity 3: The Board will seek measures that reduce the
environmental impact and its related costs to the district, such as a four-day
work week in the summer.
Activity 4: The Board meetings will become paperless by the
end of the school year.
Goal 6: The Board will seek additional ways to monitor and
control the financial health of
the district.
Activity
1: The Board will work with administration to develop reports that
carefully track unanticipated expenses
and revenues.
Activity 2: The Board will monitor
usage of programs and services with an eye to
increasing efficiency.
