Over in the Woods

Over in the woods where the animals have fun,

Lived an old mother monkey and her little monkey one.

“Play,” said the mother. “I play said the one.”

And they played and were happy where the animals have fun.

 

Over in the woods where the sky is blue,

Lived an old mother duck and her little ducks two.

“Quack,” said the mother. “We quack said the two.”

And they quacked and were happy where the sky is blue.

 

Over in the woods in an old apple tree,

Lived an old mother worm and her little worms three.

“Squirm,” said the mother.  “We squirm said the three.”

And they squirmed and were happy in an old apple tree.

 

Over in the woods by a secret garden door,

Lived an old mother deer and her little deer four.

“Eat” said the mother.  “We eat said the four.”

And they ate and were happy by a secret garden door.

 

Over in the woods by an old beehive,

Lived an old mother bee and her little bees five.

“Buzz,” said the mother.  “We buzz said the five.”

And they buzzed and were happy by an old beehive.

 

 

 

Over in the woods by a house made of sticks.

Lived an old mother snake and her little snakes six.

“Hiss,” said the mother.  “We hiss said the six.”

And they hissed and were happy by a house made of sticks.

 

Over in the woods by a tree of Heaven,

Lived an old mother bird and her little birds seven.

“Sing,” said the mother.  “We sing said the seven.”

And they sang and were happy by a tree of Heaven.

 

Over in the woods by the new black gate,

Lived an old mother owl and her little owls eight.

“Hoot” said the mother.  “We hoot said the eight.”

And they hooted and were happy by the new black gate.

 

Over in the woods by an old green pine,

Lived an old mother squirrel and her little squirrels nine.

“Squeak,” said the mother.  “We squeak said the nine.”

And they squeaked and were happy by an old green pine.

 

Over in the woods by the brown mother hen,

Lived an old mother coyote and her little coyotes ten.

“Howl” said the mother.  “We howl said the ten.”

And they howled and were happy by the brown mother hen.
