Over in the Meadow

Over in the meadow in the sand and the sun,

Lived an old mother tiger and her little tiger one

“Hunt,” said the mother. “I hunt said the one.”

And they hunted and were happy in the sand and the sun.

 

Over in the meadow where the strong winds blew,

Lived an old mother wolf and her little wolves two

“Howl,” said the mother. “We howl said the two.”

And they howled and were happy where the strong winds blew.

 

Over in the meadow in an old oak tree,

Lived an old mother owl and her little owls three.

“Hoot,” said the mother.  “We hoot said the three.”

And they hooted and were happy in the old oak tree.

 

Over in the meadow by an old cabin door,

Lived an old mother turtle and her little turtles four.

“Dig,” said the mother.  “We dig said the four.”

And they dug and were happy by the old cabin door.

 

Over in the meadow in an old beehive,

Lived an old mother bee and her little bees five.

“Buzz,” said the mother.  “We buzz said the five.”

And they buzzed and were happy in the old beehive.

 

Over in the meadow in a house made of sticks.

Lived an old mother dog and her little dogs six.

“Bark,” said the mother.  “We bark said the six.”

And they barked and were happy in their house made of sticks.

 

Over in the meadow in a flower of Heaven,

Lived an old mother butterfly and her little butterflies seven.

“Fly,” said the mother.  “We fly said the seven.”

And they flew and were happy in a flower of Heaven.

 

 

Over in the meadow in an old broken gate,

Lived an old mother lizard and her little lizards eight.

“Crawl,” said the mother.  “We crawl said the eight.”

And they crawled and were happy in an old broken gate.

 

Over in the meadow where the full moon shines,

Lived an old mother horse and her little horses nine.

“Run,” said the mother.  “We run said the nine.”

And they ran and were happy where the full moon shines.

 

Over in the meadow in an old chicken pen,

Lived an old mother cat and her little kittens ten.

“Purr,” said the mother.  “We purr said the ten.”

And they purred and were happy in an old chicken pen.
