Metronome- all musicians should have a metronome
for practice and will be assessed against a metronome during the year.
Therefore practicing with one is essential!
Metronomes cost as little at $12 (Qwik Time #QT5 is a perfect choice)
from a local music store and go up in price for more features.
A basic digital metronome is fine.
·
Percussionists: minimum= (1 pair) drumsticks (5A or 5B nylon tip or wood tip
is acceptable), practice pad with stand.
Consider a small stick pad and drum key.
Mallet/keyboard instruction is part of percussion and will be addressed
in school along with developing needs for additional mallets or accessories.
·
Woodwind
players: should purchase a supply of reeds.
Cleaning supplies include at minimum a cleaning swab and cork grease for
connecting joints. A cleaning kit
might also be a good purchase for additional needs.
Consider a tuner for developing intonation.
·
Brass
players: should consider a cleaning kit that contains tuning slide grease,
oil for valves and a cleaning brush for your mouthpiece.
Consider a tuner for intonation.
